Art Blog

Welcome to the New Twenties

This is a monthly newsletter about my current artwork, ideas, influences, past projects, and upcoming exhibitions, often with some personal content thrown in. I will also include announcements when prints or originals are up for sale.

2019 was an exciting year! Even though I had a baby in May, and spent many months away from my art practice as a result, I exhibited in two gallery shows, finished twenty paintings, and, for the first time in my life, moved my art practice to an actual studio.

I sold artwork in fifteen countries outside the United States, spanning across five continents: France, Canada, Switzerland, England, New Zealand, Australia, South Korea, Spain, Chile, Denmark, Sweden, Japan, Germany, Finland, and Norway. I was even handling a shipment of an original painting to England while I was in labor, to a customer whose wife had just given birth to their own new baby.

I have a lot of hopes and ambitions for the new decade. I’m planning on applying to art residencies to develop my practice, showing in local galleries, collaborating with other artists, and publishing at least one book (!). I’m also excited to see our baby girl grow into whoever she’s going to be, lucky that my wonderful parents are healthy and live so close by, and grateful to be doing all of this with my amazing wife and friends. I’d love to hear about your own plans for the new decade—please feel free to email me (or respond to this newsletter, if you’re on my mailing list). I always love hearing from those of you who write back!

Wishing everyonel a very happy new year, and new decade.
