Flower Iterations

I began making painting flowers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Like the other Iteration paintings, they are multiple superimposed still life perspectives of a single object.

Repeatedly overlaying different perspectives of a flower breaks down its characteristic shapes and colors. Once it has disintegrated, the task is to bring out the essential form of the flower, composed from a mosaic of broken perspectives that blend and dissolve into one another. During this time of enormous global upheaval, I find the process of blowing apart and rebuilding beautiful flowers profoundly calming and healing.
